Hello,

My name is Ulf and I'd like to apply for the position as tools engineer. The work description sounds interesting and fits my profile. I think I'd do well as a tools developer because of my long experience making applications in various environments.

My first job as a programmer started in 1996 at a small firm in Borås, ITL, writing database business applications for Windows. After a series of mergers, I found myself in Stockholm at Upright Communications. 

In 2002, I left Upright to study computer science at Stockholm University (DSV). Learning proper data modelling and code design patterns was something of an eye-opener, although the most fascinating course was on AI algorithms. After DSV, I joined a few friends in another small business. Our original plan was to produce mobile games (in J2ME), but this market was not well developed at the time, and we made only two. Instead we concentrated on web server applications and databases, and that's where I'm at today. 

Mostly, I've worked in small teams where everyone does a little bit of everything, like analysis, design, support, etc., but my main focus has always been coding. My recent (last 7-8 years or so) programming experience is with Java, C#/.NET and, to a lesser extent, C++/MSVC. I'm familiar with Python, but have no professional experience with it.

I am 42 years old and live by myself in central Stockholm. I'm a passionate gamer and enjoy cooking, consuming science fiction and tinkering with hobby code projects. A good day is, I think, when you learn something surprising or finally solve a tricky problem.
